Materials - Floating and Sinking

We  carried out a scientific investigation to see if we could build a boat from tin foil. We had to make sure it would float and be strong enough to carry a small teddy bear. It was so much fun!

Chinese Projects

Here are our amazing projects about China and the Chinese New Year!

The Normans

We have been learning all about the arrival of the Normans in Ireland and medieval Ireland in history this month. We learnt about the role of the knight, the importance of building a strong castle and the different coat of arms each lord had.

Spring Trees

We are doing the Fabric and Fibre strand in art at the moment. We took inspiration from the famous artist Kandinsky to create these spring trees.

Tic Tac Toe

We creates our very own Tic Tac Toe games in art.

First, we used clay to make the pieces. We then made the board from a cereal box.

We were delighted with how they turned out! It was great fun playing with them too.

Chinese New Year

We have been learning about the Chinese New Year traditions this week.

To celebrate the end of festival we challenged ourselves to use some chopsticks, which was trickier than we thought!
We played a traditional Chinese game called Jianzi. It was fun, but very hard!

Since the Giant Panda is one of the national animals we created fact files with lots of interesting information about pandas.
For art, we drew Chinese New Year firework displays using chalk pastels.

We tried to write some numbers in Chinese writing! It was very tricky indeed!

We made Chinese lanterns too!
