We have been practising our questioning skills through the drama strategy - hot seating.  We like to interview characters from our favourite Wonderland stories to find out more about the character or story. It's really fun! 

Scientists

We love science in our class! We are great at carrying out science investigations. sometimes we like to do them at home too.

Going blue for Autism Awareness Day

Today we wore blue clothes to help raise money for Galway Autism Partnership. We all brought in €2 for G.A.P. 

Easter Crafts

We have been very busy in first class making Easter cards and baskets! 

The very first Easter

Today, Múinteoir Sinéad read us a lovely story about the very first Easter. 

We drew lovely pictures based on the story in our religion copies. 

Easter Baskets

Easter is fast approaching and we were very busy in first class working on our Easter crafts. 

We used modelling clay to make Easter baskets. 

It was lots of fun rolling, pulling and pinching  the clay to make the clay pots. 

We used clay tools to create designs on the outside of the clay pots. 

We will paint them when they are dry. 

Science Investigation - How daffodils get water

Today we were investigating how daffodils drinks water. 

First we set out all the equipment we needed. 

For his investigation we needed jugs of water, food colouring and daffodils. 

Next, we made our predictions. 

Then we began the investigation. 

First we added the water and the food colouring. We picked green and red. 

Next we put the daffodils into the jugs of water. 

We made sure we had a "control" in our investigation. We will compare our investigation to the control over the next few days. 

Solar Eclipse

Today we were so lucky to see a solar eclipse. 

First, Múinteoir Sinéad told us all about solar eclipses and we watched a short video on YouTube all about solar eclipses. 

We went out to the school yard at 9.30 and were hoping to see some of the eclipse. 

It was a little bit cloudy but we got to see part of the moon pass over the sun. It was an amazing sight!

Writing Table

The boys and girls love to spend time at the writing table each week. They write notes, greeting cards and stories. 

Maths - money

This week we were learning all about money in maths. 

We took turns being a shopkeeper and customer. 

The customers had to count out their money to give to the shopkeepers. 

The shopkeepers had to count the money to make sure it was correct! 

Then, they had to give the correct change to the customers. 

Saint Patrick's Day Cupcakes

Wiktoria and her mom made us delicious chocolate cupcakes to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day. 

They were delicious! Thank you Wiktoria! 

Saint Patrick's Day Celebrations

We had a great time in school preparing for Saint Patrick's Day. 

On Friday we had a Lá Glas. We all wore green clothes to school! 

On Monday, Múinteoir Katri played traditional Irish music for us. 

World Book Day

We had great fun today on World Book Day. We dressed up as our favourite characters from our favourite books.
