Maths 2D Shapes

We are learning all about different 2D shapes in school.

We are sorting 2D shapes by their properties. We sorted them out by how many corners and lines they have, if they can roll and what type of lines they have (curved or straight).

Our Compliment Cup

This is our "Compliment Cup". We wrote down compliments about each other and put them in our special cup.

We love to give each other compliments in our class.

We were very careful painting them so they would not break.

We painted lovely patterns and designs on our snakes.

Science Week - Absorption

We are investigating if tissue paper is absorbent. We put food colouring in the water so we can see the tissue absorbing the water.

First, we made predictions on whether or not the tissue is absorbent.
We tested other materials like tin foil and cotton wool.

We had lots of fun!

Project Work "An Taoiseach"

Make sure you pop into our classroom to see our project on Enda Kenny, An Taoiseach. The boys and girls were busy learning all about his important job before his special visit on Monday.

An Taoiseach

An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny came to our school yesterday to officially open Merlin Woods Primary School and Merlin College.

Our class were very lucky as we got to meet Mr. Kenny!

When he visited our classroom we asked him questions about his important job and presented him with a book we made all about our lovely new school.

(More pictures to follow soon!!)

Working with clay

Today in art we were working with clay! It was lots of fun.

First we practiced rolling the clay.

Then we practiced pulling and pinching the clay.

The final step was to sculpt the shape of a snake with the clay. This part was tricky!

We used tools to add patterns, shapes and lines to our snakes.

We cannot wait for them to dry so we can paint them!
